OktoPOS Cash – The Cash Register

OktoPOS Cash is the cash register in the OktoPOS system. If you only need a cash register, you can use OktoPOS Cash independend of the other available modules. The cash register is connected with a broadband internet connection (e.g. DSL) to the web based OktoPOS Manager. In the OktoPOS Manager, all data (articles, discounts, etc.) are managed and reports are generated.

Articles

The number of articles is unlimited. Using sub-groups, unlimited layers of touch-pads can be created on the cash register.

The arrangement of articles on the button-pads can be done with the OktoPOS Manager pad designer per drag and drop.

Prices can be subject to location and distribution channel. Thus the same article may have a different price for take away and for inhouse. If applicable, the VAT rate can vary by distribution channel.

A receipt can contain articles sold through different channels in case the customer consumes one article inhouse and buys another one to go.

Articles can be registered in different ways:

  • Manually using the article buttons
  • Using a bar code scanner
  • Using mobile order terminals
  • Using a kiosk system / E-Menu

Register Closing

The closing of the cash register is done at the end of the last shift, regardless of the time of day. Shifts may end after midnight. The cashier enters the actual value of cash. These values are transmitted to the OktoPOS Manager and are checked against the expected values.

Hardware

OktoPOS is not tied to any hardware manufacturer exclusively. Therefore you can choose from a broad range of current touch screen models. Please ask for our recommendations. OktoPOS supports a broad range of printers, card readers, bar code scanners and RFID reader. Specific hardware like scales or other kitchen equipment can be integrated upon request

Technology

OktoPOS Cash is the cash register front-end module of the OktoPOS system. All databases are located in the web-based OktoPOS Manager, that provides OktoPOS Cash with the master data and that receives the transaction data from the cash register. Thus the cash register does not require local databases.

All data is exchanged in real time with the web-server. If your internet connection is temporarily unavailable, OktoPOS keeps working and does the next data exchange once the connection is back. In this way, OktoPOS Cash can be used as well permanently in places without internet connection.

The independency of local databases enables a dramatically reduced local service effort. If the cash register hardware is broken, business can continue with a PC or Laptop. Just download the current OkotPOS version and business goes on.

OktoPOS is always up to date. Updates are installed automatically and frequently through the internet. With our investment friendly license-model updates and upgrades are installed before you even think of them.
