When the foundes of the leading German Sushi Factory restaurant chain stated in 1998, the internet was a rarely used medium.

Bodo von Laffert and Oliver Greiter were convinced that the internet can be a great help in managing store operations. Thus they developed what was probably the first Intranet in the restaurant industry. Shift planning and an internal news system was integrated.

Later v. Laffert and Greiter were looking for a POS system that could integrate modern marketing tools like a mileage system, prepaid cards and gift vouchers. At the end of this unsuccessful search, the first proprietary POS system was developed and connected to the Intranet. The idea of a comprehensive ERP system for multi-chain operations was born.

In 2004, the software development was transferred to a dedicated company, White Paper Media Ltd. This OktoPOS system today is licensed by the OktoPOS Solutions GmbH.

Today, OktoPOS is one of the first web-based ERP systems for multi-unit stores, that was developed by users for users. New features are constantly developed. Through the integration of software developers and designers, a complete package can be offered, from the corporate website to individual e-menus.
